I agree completely, and said as much in the post … I know we’ve got heads of family who are barely getting by … not to mention teachers who used to be the second wage earner in the family, and now are the primary wage earner because their spouse lost their job. Not to mention … while the pay increases are certainly higher than most jobs (and the economy), there are plenty of times in the strong economy that teachers don’t receive very high wage increases.

However, from the standpoint of the average non-teacher, looking at 4+% salary increase per year in an economy which is the worst in most peoples’ memory, it can look to be excessive. All I’m saying is: to the average person, the unwillingness to part with a little money in a time of dire need can come across as looking selfish … and whether the truth be that or otherwise, perception is the truth that people internalize.

To be fair, the series has also established most of the wars of the past 30 years to have been caused by aliens infiltrating the governments of the world … so based on that, W. is pretty much a reptile too.

So… 4% per year is a “large pay increase”? Let’s keep in mind, that many teachers are also members and or heads of “families who are barely getting by…or not”.

Sorry, hot button activated….
I’ll go back to quietly observing for now. Our contract is being negotiated this year, also.

OMG! Must forward this info to husband soon–just in case he doesn’t already know. Tom, I believe we have discussed his long standing seething hatred for “The Barney Song”. How funny! (Not that people are being tortured, but if you’re gonna use music to that end, someone has done their research…)
